It’s Big, It’s Wild, It’s Western action at its best in ‘Rodeo City’, Manawa, Wisconsin July 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Celebrating 52 years, the annual Mid-Western Rodeo sponsored by the Manawa Lions Club begins Friday at 7:30 PM, with two shows Saturday, at 2PM and 7:30 PM, and the final show Sunday, at 2 PM. Saturday evening’s performance is designated TOUGH ENOUGH TO WEAR PINK night. Contestants and fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of Breast Cancer awareness. Rodeo fans will see 7 action packed events – Saddle and bareback bronc riding, steer wrestling, tie-down and team roping, bull riding, and women’s barrel racing. Contestants from throughout the United States will compete for over $110,000 in cash awards on the world’s toughest stock, provided by Three Hills Rodeo of Bernard, Iowa. Returning for his thirteenth year, professional rodeo announcer Roger Mooney will keep the audience on top of the action with his play by play commentary. Each show opens with a fast paced, patriotic presentation by the Rodeo City Riders Equestrian Drill Team. Barrelman/clown John Harrison and this year’s specialty act “Chuck Wagon Racing” by Kenny Petet will entertain rodeo fans between contest events. Free dances follow each evening performance – Friday, Mike and Brian Experience and Saturday – Grand Union. Admission to the grounds is free. Fans can check out food, vendor and game booths or take the kids for a pony ride. There’s a chicken BBQ at noon on Saturday and Sunday – The Stampede, a 5k Run/Walk – 10k Run begins at the rodeo grounds at 8:00am Saturday morning followed by the huge rodeo parade rolling through town at 10:30 AM. Cowboy Church with Kevin Johnson begins Sunday morning at 9:30 AM.
