Car club happenings in Manawa

June 5th, 2010 by Judy Trull

You may remember in one of my earlier posts that I mentioned Gunner’s Great Garage, a newer business here in Manawa.  We had the pleasure and privilege of having our June Chamber of Commerce meeting out at Gunner’s. What I am constantly amazed and appreciative of is the passion that people approach their businesses and John Gunnell is no exception to that. He has made his dream a reality and continues to encourage and report on other people reaching and working towards their dreams in the car enthusiasts world as well and we are so blessed that he has chosen Manawa as his business headquarters. Although I have been aware of car enthusiasts for many years, it is only in recent years that I have begun to fully appreciate the passion that they have for their “hobby,” or as I have heard some say, it can be an obsession.  John announced at our Chamber meeting that the following  event was happening, here are the details.

The Wisconsin Region Classic Car Club of America, Inc. was founded by a small group of Milwaukee, WI, area car enthusiasts in 1968.

Throughout the years it has been our purpose to further the restoration and preservation of Full Classic motor cars produced from 1925 to 1948 inclusive, to provide a channel of communication for those interested in such cars, and to bring together in good fellowship all who own or admire these, the finest examples of automotive craftsmanship. Ownership of a Full Classic is not a prerequisite for membership.

Today, we have over 90 members from around the State of Wisconsin plus other states and provide a year-around schedule of events.

The Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) is a national organization with many local clubs with support in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. The Antique Automobile Club of America is headquartered in Hershey, Pa. The Wisconsin chapter has been in existence since the 1950s. The members of the Wisconsin Region, while dedicated to the historical preservation of antique automobiles, also have an interest in touring with their vehicles and socializing with each other. Activities are planned throughout the year, including various tours, theme parties, fish fries, brunches, pig roasts, museum and theater outings, and more.
