John Smith Benefit

February 2nd, 2011 by Judy Trull

As many of you may know we partner in some of our packages for our Inn, with John & Robyne Smith who own Smith’s Manawa Steak House.  It is our little jewel here in Manawa, excellent Prime Rib, Steaks…really something for everyone, and as many people tell me who come here from Chicago, Milwaukee and other metropolitan areas, the portions are generous and it is quite affordable.  On November 8, 2010, John decided to head out to go hunting, as it so happened he didn’t really get to.  John had a hunting accident when he fell 24 feet from his tree stand. Someone was watching over him that day and gave him the strength to crawl 15 feet to his phone to call 911. Soon after his his 911 call and text message to Robyne, he heard the sirens coming for him. He was air lifted to the Neenah Theda Clark. He ended up with a broken back, fractured neck and massive blood collection around his heart and after a long 11 days of being in the hospital he was able to come home. He is doing fairly well for his circumstances and is (in my opinion) miraculously back to work. The support to John and his  family in their time of need has been a tremendously uplifting experience and they feel incredibly blessed to be part of such a wonderful community.

Come and celebrate with John and his family at this tremendous event at Bear Lake on Saturday February 5th.  There will be a dart tournament beginning at 2, the benefit will begin at 5, tickets are $20 per person, there will be many silent auction items and raffles all evening plus a DJ and food.  Come on out and show your support for The Smith family!

All proceeds from our guests for February 4th & 5th, will be donated to the benefit!
