Golfing in beautiful Central Wisconsin

If you say the word golf to different people, you most certainly will get some varied reactions.  Some people articulate that they believe golf is fundamentally a sport, albeit a boring one to watch on television, others will say that possibly golf is one of the only sports that is worth playing.  Wherever your opinion lies (pardon the pun), you can find a variety of wonderful golf courses right here in Central Wisconsin.  Cedar Springs is located just outside of Manawa.   The 9-hole Cedar Springs Golf Course is a public golf course that opened in 1965. Designed by Marty Garrity, Cedar Springs Golf Course measures 2967 yards from the longest tees. The course features 3 sets of tees for different skill levels. In todays golf world, Cedar Springs may seem like it isn’t enough of a challenge but believe me, I have seen some very talented golfers get taken in by what they think is a slam dunk course, only to be fooled as their skill level is tested.  We are also blessed to have Glen Cairn which is a golf course located northwest of Manawa. The 18-hole “Glen Cairn” course at the Glen Cairn Golf Club facility in Ogdensburg, Wisconsin features 6,230 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71 .  Designed by Jerry Berkholtz, the Glen Cairn golf course opened in 2000. To the southwest of us is Hidden Waters. This elegant country club offers a nine hole golf course with a driving range and a pro shop for all your equipment needs.  The 9-hole “Weymont Run” course at the Weymont Run Country Club facility in Weyauwega, Wisconsin features 3,229 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36 .  Carved magically by ice and earth Glacier Wood Golf Club has been cited as “an awe inspiring golf experience.” With broad elevation changes, breath-taking scenery from tee box to green, an abundance of wildlife and the kind of challenge that defines excellence in golf, Glacier Wood Golf Club is unique amongst its rivals.

Utilizing the natural terrain famed golf architect Larry Packard offers 18 championship holes combining forest, marshland, and open rolling holes.

Exemplifying his genius is the signature hole #12 that incorporates breath taking elevation, forest and wetlands to create the pinnacle in golfing experience.

Glacier Wood offers a completely redesigned state-of-the-art practice facility. With four target greens, 12,000 square foot natural grass hitting area, and a large chipping/putting green, we aspire to the notion that “golf is a lifetime pursuit towards perfection.” If your looking for a Wisconsin North Woods golf experience where sport meets natural beauty, look no further than Glacier Wood Golf Club.

Golf Digest’s guidebook, Best Places to Play 2004-2005 had listed Glacier Wood in the state of Wisconsin.  Stay and play right here in Manawa, WI located in the center of all the action and fun that is to be had in Waupaca County.
